Key Features

Data Acquisition

MAGRes UI delivers advanced, real-time data acquisition with support for both transient and averaged 1D signals and richly tagged 2D datasets indexed by frequency, delay, magnetic field, temperature, and custom experimental parameters. Flexible Cartesian and polar averaging, combined with live I/Q, phase, and magnitude visualization, provide complete control and clarity. Real-time macros, dynamic zooming, panning, and instant FFT processing ensure immediate insight, while live system feedback keeps users fully informed throughout every experiment.

Pulse sequencer

MAGRes UI includes a powerful, WYSIWYG pulse sequence editor. The graphical interface allows direct programming of delays, pulse widths, phases, and frequencies. Real-time virtual knobs and switches enable on-the-fly parameter adjustment while sequences are running.

    GUI Tools

  • Delay Tables: Automatic incrementing of delay times
  • Frequency Tables: Frequency switching for sweep experiments
  • Phase Tables: Quadrature phase stepping for phase correction.
    • Multiple tables can be combined, and users can define the precise order in which table entries are applied to a sequence.

  • Loops
    • Loops provide exceptional flexibility and compact program structure. Repetitive sequences can be combined with tables to create clean, readable pulse programs. Programs can also jump to global return points without re-executing initialization steps.

Autotune

The Autotune function enables automatic tuning of the RF tank circuit. When paired with motorized capacitors and a network analyzer, frequency-sweep experiments become fully automated, eliminating the need for manual retuning.

eMagnet – Magnet Control

Power supplies are controlled directly through the software via USB, RS-232, GPIB, or LAN. Custom drivers can be developed to support a wide range of third-party magnet power supplies.

IntrePID – Temperature Control

IntrePID provides a unified interface for temperature controllers connected via GPIB, USB, or Ethernet LAN. A built-in, independent software-based PID controller enables coordinated operation of multiple temperature controllers.

Periodic Table of NMR Properties

A built-in interactive reference provides nuclear and electronic properties for all elements. It includes data for NMR-active isotopes such as Knight shifts and T₁ values, along with calculators for rapid resonance-frequency/field estimation.

Data Reduction and Analysis

Advanced post-processing tools include:

  • Baseline correction
  • Transient alignment
  • Apodization and windowing
  • Digital filtering
  • Phase correction
  • Conjugation
  • Background subtraction

Analysis tools include

  • Integration
  • Moment analysis
  • Peak- and valley- detection
  • Curve fitting
  • FFT summing
  • Normalization
  • Interpolation
  • Noise analysis
  • Phase Analysis
  • Record segment manipulation

Users can combine, reorder, and manipulate data across multiple files.

MagSCRiPT™ – Full Automation

MagSCRiPT™ is the MAGRes scripting language for fully automated experiments. This interpreted, Turing-complete language supports:

  • Variables and arrays
  • Loops, cases and conditionals
  • Mathematical and matrix operations
  • Background processing
  • Script recording and playback
  • OS interface

It enables fully automated sweeps of magnetic field, spectrometer frequency, temperature, angular rotation, probe position, and other experimental parameters, depending on system configuration.

Physical Modeling

The software includes exact diagonalization of Zeeman and quadrupole Hamiltonians in user-defined Hilbert spaces. Users can sweep key NMR parameters to predict resonance positions and linewidths. Additional tools support line-shape modeling (including powder patterns) and electric field gradient (EFG) estimation using point-charge models for nuclei with spins > 1/2 in a non-cubic environment.

Virtual MAGRes – Educational Mode

MAGRes UI can operate in a fully virtual mode for teaching and training. Users can simulate magnetic field, frequency, probe tuning, temperature, and pulse sequences without physical hardware and visualize the resulting NMR data in real time.
